UNESCO 80th Anniversary

The key elements of the UNESCO 80th Anniversary Celebration in Malaysia:

  1. Flagship Exhibition – “80 Years of UNESCO: Legacy & Future”
    • A month-long exhibition featuring UNESCO World Heritage Sites (WHS), Biosphere Reserves, and Global Geoparks from different regions.
    • Includes Malaysia’s six WHS and sites on the Tentative List, showcasing innovative conservation practices and community engagement stories.
  2. Youth Heritage Lab
    • Interactive youth-driven innovation labs for digital storytelling, heritage mapping, and volunteer action programmes.
  3. Cultural Showcase & Community Engagement
    • Performances, traditional craft demonstrations, and storytelling sessions highlighting Malaysia’s intangible cultural heritage.
  4. UNESCO 80th Anniversary Gala Night
    • Official opening ceremony and celebratory evening with international delegates, cultural performances, and an awards segment acknowledging heritage champions.
