Semenggoh Nature Reserve + Annah Rais Longhouse

Maximum Capacity: 160

Description

Unlike in a zoo, orangutans roam freely within this 653-hectare forest reserve, where young and adolescent primates are trained with essential survival skills. Visitors can observe their delicate nests, agile treetop movements, and unique feeding behaviours, while guides provide valuable insights into the characteristics of these remarkable creatures, aptly called the “man of the forest.” The tour continues with a cultural immersion into the traditions of the Bidayuh people, Sarawak’s second largest ethnic group, renowned as the “Land Dayak” and “Engineer of Bamboo.” Located about 100 kilometres east of Kuching, Annah Rais Longhouse showcases impressive bamboo architecture and offers a glimpse into daily village life. Activities such as rice pounding, winnowing, basket weaving, mat making, and bamboo carving highlight the community’s craftsmanship. The most significant structure is the Baruk, or head house, once a defensive fort, where sacred relics including human skulls and a war drum remain as symbols of heritage.

Bako National Park

Maximum Capacity: 150

Description

Bako National Park, Sarawak's oldest and most renowned national park, provides the ideal introduction to the state's rich forests and wildlife. It has diverse vegetation, jungle streams, cascading waterfalls, intriguing plant life, trekking trails, and coastlines with small bays, coves, and beaches. Among its captivating wildlife residents are the proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, Borneo bearded pigs, and monitor lizards. You will be able to see almost desert-like scrub, or “padang”, on the plateau and lowland dipterocarp forest. Erosion has sculpted some spectacular sandstone formations, such as the well-known Sea Stack. In February 2024, the famous ‘cobra head’ sea stack collapsed caused by strong wind and waves. Nevertheless, Bako National Park still has some remaining sea stacks, including the "frog"-shaped sea stack

Heritage Walk

Maximum Capacity: 400

Description

The Kuching Heritage Walk offers a formal journey through the city’s cultural and historical landmarks along the Sarawak River. Beginning at the Kuching Waterfront, visitors encounter a lively promenade that reflects the city’s role as a social and commercial hub. Crossing the Darul Hana Bridge provides sweeping views of both banks, symbolizing unity and progress. From Pengkalan Sapi, the Astana stands prominently across the river, a regal reminder of Sarawak’s colonial past under the White Rajahs. The walk continues past the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, whose striking golden roof represents modern governance and architectural ambition. At Dataran Sri Pertiwi, the open square highlights Kuching’s communal spirit, serving as a venue for cultural gatherings. The route culminates at Fort Margherita, where participants not only admire its imposing façade but also step inside to explore the Brooke Gallery. Entering the fort transforms the experience from an external appreciation of heritage into an intimate encounter with Sarawak’s layered history—its defensive role, colonial narratives, and enduring legacy. Together, these sites form a narrative of heritage, resilience, and continuity, offering participants a deeper appreciation of Kuching’s identity

Archeology Tour

Maximum Capacity: 240

Description

The Archaeology Tour offers a concise yet enriching journey through Sarawak’s historical and natural heritage. It begins at Sungai Jaong, an important archaeological site where ancient burial grounds and artifacts reveal the lives and rituals of early communities along the Sarawak River. The tour then moves to Bongkissam Bukit Maras, a hill rich in discoveries such as pottery fragments and stone tools, providing insight into how early societies adapted to their environment while expressing cultural identity. Finally, participants explore the Wallace Trail, named after naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, whose pioneering studies in Borneo contributed to the theory of evolution. Here, archaeology meets biodiversity, as the trail highlights the natural surroundings that shaped Wallace’s work and connects them to the broader narrative of human history. Together, these three sites form a compelling exploration of Sarawak’s past, blending archaeology, culture, and nature into a memorable and educational experience.
